Jean Phil Isn't Even Real — Is His Coin A Scam?
What this video covers
Kevin investigates Jean Phil (Jean Philanthrope), an AI-generated character who gained roughly 250,000 followers in weeks and was linked to a crypto meme coin. He describes copycats such as Archibald Brown that also link to coins, and explains how pump-and-dump schemes work. Kevin notes the coin launched September 20 and, with a market cap near 10.7 million dollars, does not look like a classic pump and dump, though he says he would not buy it. He argues AI is software and that it is humans all the way down. He calls the trend dystopian and expects it to fade.

We need to stop putting blame on AI. We actually need to stop doing that. It's all humans all the way down, bro. It just is. It's just is. SPEAKING OF HOW strange the internet is and has been, have you guys seen Jean Phil? Do you know about this? If you don't, don't worry. There's only been around for a few weeks, but holy what an arc. What an arc with this Jean Phil thing. So, this is Jean Phil, if you don't know. Jean Phil has put out only a few videos on TikTok, grew to hundreds of thousands
of followers overnight, and they get this, it's like this character with a weird-shaped head and a weird like Lord Farquaad-style haircut. It's nuts. This story will go places that you may not expect, and we're going to investigate it cuz it's pretty It's just so on the nose for where the internet's at with AI. Lately, there's been an outcropping of goofy European-looking dudes, often with weird facial hair and extravagant hairstyles, getting into shadow boxing or just generally looking utterly smooth with it. They've become memes in the process as they all seem to share bizarre DNA of a slightly deformed European aristocratic type. One of the first to do so appears to be Jean Philanthrope,
as the account started posting videos of him in various locations wearing a tweed suit and writing French to accompany his boxing routines. His clips started absolutely blowing up, and as it stands, his account has nearly 250,000 followers, and even the official Instagram account commented on his work saying, "You're a vibe." Unfortunately, as it turns out, he's an AI-generated character produced with the purpose of pushing a pump-and-dump crypto scam. He appears to be an AI overlay that has been spread across the internet and exploited numerous times by numerous accounts. And you'll find the exact same process used for many fake characters. Here's So, Gene Phil or Gene Philanthrope is the first of these like AI characters of this
style. And then they did what we're about to find out the team behind it. Which by the way, a lot of people fell for this. A lot of people think that this is a real person. A lot of people. And something happened. And then when this thing happened, which we'll hear, we'll find about just a minute, all of these like copycat kind of same DNA type things popped up. And that's what these other characters are. There's one of Archibald Brown, who also exists as another boxer, but unfortunately is also AI generated. In this video of him singing, you can see the background posters have the telltale signs of garbled text and imagery that blends into itself. And if you click on the link in his bio, you'll find it takes you to a crypto
coin with an image of him beating John Phil. on pump.com. So, this is what happened. Gene Phil comes out. Puts out a few videos on TikTok, they blow up. People start remixing them and doing all sorts of stuff. Becomes this thing like overnight. When it gets super popular in the first like few days, then it makes an announcement. And he says, the Gene Phil coin. It's a meme coin. Then I mean, it was a Well, it had the had all the hallmarks of a pump-and-dump meme coin scheme. But let's see if that's actually really true. In a minute here.
It's extremely unfortunate because many of these guys don't even look like they're AI generated. They definitely got me at first until I started seeing them popping up everywhere and I figured something weird was going on. This what we doing now? AIP Now, this person is real. This person is real. I've actually been following this guy on social media for like 2 years or something and he's hilarious. He's a rapper who looks like Lord Farquaad from the hood. It's so funny. People jacking my style, jacking me off. Now, you probably thinking relic, it's just a coincidence. This got nothing to do with you. Stop being so full of yourself. UNTIL I SAW THIS. EXPLAIN THIS. INITIALLY THAT WAS somebody like doing one of his music videos.
John Phil had a link to a crypto coin on his bio, too. However, since the masses have cottoned on to the scam, the person running the account has removed it. Perhaps they're hoping they can use him for something else without the stigma of a crypto coin. Essentially, despite everyone wanting to believe that these weird-looking guys are real people doing incredible things online. But look at how good the AI is. Like look at how good that AI is. It's that's what's getting crazy. We are living in a post-truth world. It does appear as if they are AI generated and exploited to sell crypto, perhaps demonstrating the fact that the dead internet theory is well and truly in full swing. time. Social media right now because everything can be fake. I'm actually not holding a pigeon. I'm holding a rock. No, I'm actually not holding anything.
And this is my car. No, it's my bike. Actually, it's my stool. And right now, it's actually daytime. No, I'm kidding. This is actually my home. Nothing in social media right now is real. So, be careful and don't get tricked. And if I'm being honest with you, I don't even know if he is real. He could the whole thing could be AI [clears throat] completely 100% and why I think that is because of the audio the audio that of his voice has that like weird wobbly distortion type thing and that makes it very weird. But how can you trust anything? How can you trust anything? Because
people using AI, they're getting quite good at it. See how I didn't say AI? I said people using AI are getting quite good because we need to stop putting blame on AI. We actually need to stop doing that. It's all humans all the way down, bro. It just is. It just is. I just it just needs to be said. AI is not conscious. AI is not benevolent. AI is not evil. AI is software. It is ones and zeros just like everything else on your computer.
It just happens to be able to do some things incredibly well. It is not evil. It's not taking your job. It's existence is taking everything away from me. That's not real, actually. That's actually not real. A human is making decisions maybe based on AI and that has given away or made it so you can't get work. AI isn't like doing anything to you. So, we need to stop blaming AI. It's all humans all the way down. But anyway, Jean Phil, this weird-looking dude, blows up on the internet and then all these copycats come in and actually you never know, some of them could be from the same people that do
Jean Phil. I actually don't know who the Jean Phil people are. And everybody called it a pump and dump. But if you look here, it's like up to near the height of where it was. Like the coin's doing pretty well. In fact, I pulled this up about 4 hours ago and it was at 9 million. And now it And that was like 9.3 million market cap and now it's at 10.7 million. So a pump and dump, if you if you're not aware, a pump and dump is basically when somebody holds a lot of like a stock or a coin, like a like a like a crypto coin or something like that, right? And they
hold a lot of it and they release it and these are like what we would call like meme coins because this was pushed by in this case an a literal meme. Sometimes it's pushed by celebrities. These things get massive attention, right? And then all these people buy into it because if they could put money in and then the price goes up, then they can sell and make a ton of money. Because the first time this really kind of happened was Dogecoin, which is Elon Musk, I believe was a part of that. And a lot of people made a like generational wealth with a meme coin. Uh and so what what often happens is when these pump and dumps happen,
the value rises and then the people who own or release that project or who got to buy in early, maybe they got to buy like the coin before it went live, and they sit on a bunch, and then that that price goes from like zero to a dollar, 40 cents, whatever, right? So you go and you buy it for a 3 cents, and then it goes up to 30 cents. You just 10x your money. Goes up to $3. You just got generational wealth. That's That's kind of how it goes. But, when those highs hit, a bunch of people sell, and then the value goes to
nothing. And all the people who bought in on the release, not the people who got the the the lowest value amounts that was like the most of it. No, no, no. The people that bought at the retail level, they get stuck holding the bag, and they get nothing. And tons of celebrities have done this. It's just It's awful. But, this is not signaling to me, okay, this coin came out September 20th. It is now essentially 20 days later, nearly 3 weeks later, and the market cap is going strong, actually. Yeah, somebody just Jean Phil Madame, creator, or their position is
$146,000. So, they bought $43. They bought $43 worth, and they're sitting with $146,000 worth. This person with $166,000 worth bought in at $108,000 worth. Now, would you have rather bought in at $43 or at $108,000? You'd rather buy in at 43, and they're sitting at $145,000. This is And this is that game. This is This is that game. This is a game that I don't play, by the way. I won't. I won't do none of this stuff. If I'm going to waste money, I should at least
get something dumb that I could do stupid with, you know? But, yeah, this stuff actually doesn't look like a pump and dump scheme. And I guess we all kind of assumed that it was. And time will tell, but for right now, this has pumped and dumped many times, but it is still at least maintained a a pretty somewhat healthy bottom, I think. So yeah. So who knows? I'm not buying it. I wouldn't buy it. Not financial advice, but I think you shouldn't buy it because it's, you know, it's just not worth it. It's just not worth it. But yeah, so that's Gene Phil, and that's this new wave that's going on and all of these characters are
meme coins. They're all there for meme coins. So it's probably also going to be a very flash-in-the-pan type of thing, and by the end of this month, you'll probably not see any of those. You know, it's not like we're going to see like a TV show a Gene of Gene Phil and the gang. Like, that's not going to happen. Is it weird though, guys? It's like truly dystopian.
