What this video covers

This video is Kevin's reaction to a report that Anthropic, maker of Claude, is building a monitoring system to track activists who oppose rapid AI development. Kevin cites job postings and interviews described in the article, including a pre-crime approach that could involve reporting suspects to police. He argues frontier AI labs are pushing regulation to block competitors and restrict open-source models, and ties this to Nick Bostrom's vulnerable world hypothesis. Kevin also recalls Anthropic's dispute with the Department of War over domestic surveillance and says the company now seems to be reversing course.

Anthropic, which is Claude, the AI company that's full of effective altruists and transhumanists. Andropic is building a predictive surveillance system to monitor activists. So, this is an additional predictive crime system, surveillance system at the AI level.

I've seen enough these frontier AI labs are full of psychopaths. Every one of them, including the one that I like, Claude. I mean, just psychopathic. They're up to something. They're up to no goods. I think if they all want to make it illegal to have not just open- source AI models, but open-source software. They want to make it illegal to have open- source software. The entire internet is built on open source software. That's just a fact. Everything is built on some some in some way opensource They want to close off the entire

internet essentially so that they can be the ones. And so because they're against the open- source, it tells me open- source models are the threat to them and so therefore we probably should have them. The com the compute is a threat. They're trying to make computers so expensive like to get one powerful enough to run open-source AI models on your computer that you can actually do stuff. They're going to make that so difficult that instead what you're going to do is you're going to pay for a subscription for compute from Amazon.

And I'm not making this up. This is what their stated goal is. And this is what Amazon's been working on with Amazon Web Services. It makes no sense. You're going to buy compute off the grid. That's AWS. Cloud computing. That's what they call it. Cloud computing. So, you have a computer and maybe your computer isn't very it's like old. It's like three, four, five years from now and to get a capable computer is going to cost you $5,000. But instead, for $100 a month plus, you know, some metering fee, you're going to pay Amazon for the good enough services. But if you do the wrong things, they could take it off. They could

they could they could shut you out because you don't have computer sovereignty at all. Right? And this all plays into this and what Anthropic is doing here. New hires and comments in interviews shows that the AI giant is using its capabilities against dissenters. People like me, probably all of you just for being here would be labeled as such. So, if you guys remember, we talked about Nick Bostonramm's vulnerable world hypothesis, which essentially, if you don't know, Nick Bostonramm is kind of like this philosopher in the AI cult world. And he put out this paper was called the vulnerable world hypothesis. And in it, he basically lays

out the groundwork as to why we need a surveillance state so that we can root out the denters of AI and transhumanism, create digital and physical panopticons. We we went over all of this. It's pretty insane. This is playing into that. This is just a piece of that. Okay. Job postings and interviews with senior security officials at Anthropic show that the Frontier AI lab is building out an extensive monitoring system to keep tabs on activists who oppose the rapid development of artificial intelligence. Now, this all at the same time that they're coming out and lockep with every other AI company saying we got to slow down AI development, which by the way,

we haven't really talked about that on here, but all of that is just a play to uh basically regulate or even overregulate the entire AI industry, effectively shutting the door on any new AI companies so that only the existing frontier AI labs Now, when they go IPO, they're going to IPO uh more heavily because uh they're the only games in town and so they're kind of grandfathered in and they're the everything's on them. So, they're the safe bet. It effectively kills the ability for new competitors to come onto the onto the field. This is a very bad idea. This is a very stupid idea. But I

also believe in pausing or slowing down the development and the growing of more and more AIs as we start to understand them more. But there's a lot going on. Here's the timeline. I don't remember the day, but what kind of set off what's happening right now is this day where all of the major frontier AI labs all went down at the same time for like two hours. You got to ask yourself if all of these are different independent companies, what is shared across all of them? That is the singular point of failure that that when that happens that turns all of the AI

companies off at the same time. Like not many people are asking that question. Most people forgot that that happened, but it did. It happened. And it's weird. Then Daario from Anthropic comes out and says that we need to to put a pause or slow down AI development. And then Elon Musk and Sam Alman and all these are like, "Yeah, dude. Totally agree." Trump comes and it's like, "Fuck you." [gasps] It's like, "Wow, cold day in hell that I like kind of agree with Trump." It like I said, it's been exposed like what this really is. What this really is, it's all a power grab. But I do believe that we like shouldn't be developing AI in the way that we are.

So, I don't know. Anyway, in addition to monitoring activists in the vicinity of anthropic executives and keeping tabs on protests near physical anthropic assets, the firm is also implementing a pre-rime approach, attempting to predict incidences before they happen. In some cases, that also means reporting suspects to police before a crime occurs. Anthropic did not respond to the prospect's requests for comment. Prospects being who published this. Anthropic's plan to surveil disscent are at odds with the firm's efforts to cast itself as the responsible alternative to open AI. Now, if you remember about six, seven, eight months ago, something like that, this was around the time that we

uh bombed a girls school and killed 170 young school girls in Iran. Around the time that that happened, the Department of War and Pete Haggth, God, I hate that guy. The most punchable face. The most punchable face. He went on this public crusade against anthropic. They called it a n They called anthropic a national uh uh security uh threat and all these things. And you know, Trump was like, "We're not allowed to use anthropic in the government at all." and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah and they still were the government was still doing contracts with Anthropic and but Anthropic was

really able to present itself as this ethical immoral company and then Sam Alman and Chat GPT comes in and says we'll take those contracts we don't care because the whole thing was that Anthropic had said that they would not allow the Department of War or ICE or anybody else to survive veil Americans. That was the entire thing. Anthropic got into a war with the American government because their stance was that they were not going to surveil Americans. What exactly is this? If not surveilling Americans and then calling the police on them because they're going to

attempt pre-rime minority report So, Anthropic's plans to surveil disscent are at odds with the firm's efforts to cast itself as the responsible alternative to open AI. At the beginning of the year, the Department of Defense and Anthropic engaged in a high-profile dusttop over Anthropic's refusal to allow the military to use its tool for mass domestic surveillance and autonomous weapons. That tension seems to have eased as Anthropic hires for national security sales positions seeking to restart military contracts. The increase in threat monitoring of domestic opponents fits with a renewed focus on national security. So yeah, Anthropic is walking back their entire thing

that made them honestly one of the household names of AI and they're turning the complete 180 and becoming a surveillance state in and of themselves. Heat. Heat.
